Edinburgh, Scotland

First, I want to say sorry for no pictures being posted yet. I'm working off an iPad, so I can't upload them until we get back to Germany.

Last night we arrived in Scotland and had an evening of Scottish merriment, complete with bagpipes, kilts, folk dancers, and of course, haggis. For those of you who don't know what haggis is, this is a warning- I will explain, but it's gross. Haggis is made of everything left over after you have eaten a sheep (intestines, brains, kidneys, hearts, livers, etc). You take the meat, puree it, add barley, oats, onions, and lots of spices, and put the mixture into the sheep's stomach. You bake it and then enjoy! The haggis was not the main meal, but we all got a taste at the end of the meal. It actually didn't taste that bad. It was kind of like meatloaf.

Today, we went on a tour of the old town and the Edinburgh castle. The castle was more of a fortification than a palace, but was still really neat to see. I went on another free walking tour in the afternoon and ended up getting another taste of the local cuisine - a fried mars bar! It was so unhealthy, but so delicious. After that, we went on a tour of the now retired, but once Royal Yacht Britania. It really wasnt as lavish as I thought it would be on the inside. Then we had another delicious meal; I kind of feel like all we do on this tour is eat. I took the stairs up to my room, which is on the 8th floor, to try and work off a little bit of it, lol.
